Eyes closed, I
roam the streets
of Paris, stopping
to browse through
books, get a coffee,
watch lovers kiss.
Eyes closed, I think,
ATTRAVERSIAMO,
lick at my gelati,
and smile back
at the beautiful
man sitting by
the fountain.
Eyes closed, I inhale
the scent of the sea,
feel the spray,
hear the call of the
guillemot,
pull my shawl closer
and smile into
the breeze.
Eyes open, I wander
to the deck, smell
the blue sky, call
to my dog, latch
her leash, amble along
the empty road.
Heart swells with
fullness, presentness.
Eyes wide open.
